This calculator is intended as a basic aid to assist you estimating the likely savings or costs you can anticipate when choosing your remote working preferences. In it’s basic format it determines the difference between Working from Home or working from the Office. If you want to compare this result to the likely savings if you choose to work from your local Coworking Space just note your savings and click RESET then repeat the process but this time entering the values for using your local Coworking Space as your destination. Enter your Coworking Membership cost per day in the Other daily costs field.

In the Background

Whilst the calculator may appear simple there are a lot of calculations being processed in the background. The data you input is combined with lots of other data gathered from the likes of The AA, The Department of Transport, The Motortax Office, Dept. of Environment and various EU/Irl research documents. So for instance, your motoring costs when generated, includes more than just the cost of fuel it also includes items like, wear and tear, Servicing, depreciation, tax etc. based on the tax band.

It is designed specifically for IRELAND and so some of core values and defaults are based on Ireland specific data like for instance we choose the current Irish Motor-tax Band model as a basis for calculating both car operating costs and emissions as this data is readily accessible. We added an "Average" option here as an aid to more widespread use.

Motor insurance and claims costs are higher here than in rest of the EU average. In most other regards Ireland is about average in EU tables

We have entered default values as an aid. Again, these values are based on current Irish data and you can change any of these values. For instance the cost of fuel default is the average of a litre of petrol and a litre of diesel at the time of publishing. The cost of both varies regularly.
